Imposter Posting

Don't you think it is a good idea for everyone to post under their own name. I mean, someone might get confused and think that I, for example, might be saying something that is very unlike anything I would say. I think this is a very serious issue that needs to be addressed and then dealt with in the best way possible. Perhaps someone might post under someone else's name because they are not very adept at modern technology such as texting in every kind of situation. Maybe they would need some kind of intervention to help them understand how to open their very own gmail account. I am interested in any comments anyone might be willing to make concerning this very serious issue. Thank you!

Family Home Evening at the Bishop's

Tonight we hosted ward members at our home for family home evening. I think we had between 20 and 30 people. I made 6 dozen cinnamon rolls - a la Rindy Wilson - and they were all gone when everyone left. We did bag up the leftovers and sent them home for breakfast tomorrow. These kids are so great, we love each one of them. We have a new member, Kyle, who drove 2 hours to be here and then had to drive 2 hours to get home. He has such a strong southern accent that there are times when I can't understand him -no joke!! He's a great guy and we're glad to have him here.

I wanted to share my part of the lesson with you:

We talked about obedience and the importance of being obedient and the blessings that come from being obedient.

When dad and I had been married for only a few years we had that opportunity to go to St. Louis for the summer for an internship with the department store, Famous Barr. We had Adrianne, 3, and Matt, 1, and I was pregnant with Craig. Before we left I made a decision which was a pretty foolish one. I thought that since dad would be working for a department store and we would get a 10% discount that I would get rid of my winter shoes and would be able to buy new ones. So all of my winter shoes, all 2 or 3 pairs, went out into the garbage. I only had sandals and church shoes left.

When we got to St. Louis the cost of living was way higher than we had anticipated. We needed a furnished apartment and the only reasonably priced one we could find was in an area, Bird Land, that we were cautioned not to live in. We were able to find a "house sitting" situation in University City. The homeowner was a doctor who taught at Washington University Medical School. He and his family were going to be gone for the summer doing research in Maine. They didn't pay us to house sit but they did leave us a Volkswagen Bug to drive. We had to pay all of the utilities. It was a great situation but the cost of living was still very high.

Toward the end of the summer I faced a very difficult situation. I had only enough money in our checking account to pay tithing. The problem was that we were totally out of milk and I knew we needed milk for our little children and for me. I debated back and forth for a while about whether to pay tithing or to use the money for milk. My parents had always taught me that the right thing to do was to pay tithing and I knew that was the right thing but it was still a really tough decision. Finally I wrote out the check for tithing and put it in the tithing envelope and sealed it shut, deciding to trust that Heavenly Father would take care of us.

Shortly after I had done that there was a knock at the back door. It was our neighbor, another Dr. who taught at the medical school. He and his wife were going on a cruise and had asked us to help keep an eye on their house while they were gone. He had come over to tell me that they were leaving. He also said that they had been cleaning out the fridge and realized that they had milk that wouldn't keep while they were gone and he asked if I would be offended if they gave it to us. I was speechless but managed to say that we would be happy to use their milk. I know that we were blessed as a result of obedience.

Still, there was the shoe problem. Periodically I wondered how I would go through winter in Utah with sandals but then I would be like Scarlett O'Hara, "I'll think about that tomorrow." Occasionally I would check the shoe department but they were just too expensive, even with the big 10% discount. Another neighbor had a little girl the same age as Adrianne and we would get our girls together to play. One day she brought her little girl over and stayed to visit. She started asking me questions comparing our pregnancies. She asked me a rather strange question, "Did your feet get bigger when you were pregnant?" I told her no and then she told me that her feet had grown a whole size larger. "In fact," she said, "I bought a pair of shoes just before I got pregnant and there is no way I can wear then now. They were very expensive shoes." Then she thought a minute and asked me what size I wore. I told her and she said they were that exact size. She told me she would bring them over and I could try them on and if they fit me I could have them. A few days later she did bring the shoes over, they fit me perfectly, and she gave them to me.

The shoes she gave me were very expensive designer shoes. They were probably the most expensive pair of shoes I had ever had at that point in my life. They were cute, lace-up, oxford- type shoes. Perfect for snowy, cold Utah. They weren't exactly my taste but they were a great pair of shoes. I wore them for the next several years, in fact until they started to fall apart. I finally threw them away, I wish I still had them.

I know that when we do what is right and are obedient to Heavenly Father's commandments he blesses with what we need, it may not be what we want or when we want it but he always blesses us. He even makes up for our mistakes, ie. throwing away shoes before you know if you can afford to replace them. I have thought about this experience many times and it has helped to be stronger in my decisions to be obedient. What if I had made a different choice?

Being obedient has always been a blessing to me, not always easy or what I have wanted to do but always a blessing.

An Enchanted Evening

Chris and Sparkles just left after our Enchanted party. We love that movie here and had a party all around that theme. Chris and Marc had never seen the movie and said that they thought it was pretty cute. I believe that's a two thumbs up.

Afterward, Chris took some funny photos on his camera. I've asked him to post them but only time will tell.

It sounds like there were a few Clune parties tonight. Too bad they weren't all in the same state so we could all be together.

Hugs and kisses to you all!

Happy Easter~

Craig and Sean come to Arkansas for Easter

Craig and Sean left 5 inches of snow and drove down to spend Easter with us. We treated them to springlike weather, temps around 60 - 65, and a trip to Devil's Den State Park. It's a beautiful park with caves and waterfalls. The rock formations are really amazing.

Anyway we had a great time. Came home slightly dirtier and had Cowboy Caviar and played Dominos. Followed by watching "The Bee Movie." It's so good to see them!

Great thought by Elder Packer

"[Today's children] will see many events transpire in thecourse of their lifetime. Some of these shall tax their courage and extend their faith. But if they seek prayerfully for help and guidance, they shall be given power over adverse things. Such trials shall not be permitted to stand in the way of their progress, but instead shall act as stepping-stones to greater knowledge."

Mike the Amazing Chicken

Now that we are living in chicken land, and I really, really mean that!, I thought it would be appropriate to share the official story with you. I was telling a friend and she didn't believe me until I looked it up and gave her the cold, hard facts. Anyway, read and believe or don't believe but do enjoy!!

Pictures of Cozumel

Sorry this is taking so long guys. I can't get a picasa account because I have a Mac operating system so here is a link to my photos on flickr.com. If the link doesn't work it is probably because I am not very computer/intertube savvy. Well anyways, here goes nothing. I can only upload a certain amount of photos per month, so the rest will have to wait till April. Love you all!

Rainy Day

It's pouring buckets here. All night we heard torrential downpours and frequent thunder and lightening. I've got to put the garbage out but it hasn't stopped raining long enough to dash it out to the curb. At least I wouldn't have to shower afterward!

Springbreak, wish we were all in a sunny warm spot with turquoise water!!

We're looking forward to seeing Merrill in a couple of days. Can't wait actually. And then Sean and Craig are coming down for Easter, can't wait for that either. It will be a fun weekend.

Hope the Easter Bunny finds you all! Love You.

Great thought for a gloomy, rainy day

Pssst...Matt

Chris and I are hanging out laughing about the Flintstone internet of yester year. Anyway, we were trying to figure when you would have used a pass word for before the computer age.

I remember when we were little, we wouldn't let each other pass without the secret pass word. We always used the same one.

Do you still remember the secret pass word???

To Cozumel and Back

Kelly and I made it back safely from our trip to Cozumel, Mexico, which I learned is in the state of Quintana Roo (we like the name a lot, fun to say).  We really enjoyed relaxing, snorkeling, and even renting an old Volkswagen Bug, presumably from the 60's, to tool around the island in for a day.  We also ate a lot of very tasty food.  Kelly and I both got a little sunburn but for the most part sustained no major pain.  I did, however, sustain a barotrauma to my middle ear (my diagnosis, not official) from snorkeling. My right ear has been plugged for almost a week.  I might try to see a doctor soon, but I have very little time. One of the highlights of the trip was an appetizer we had a restaurant called Guido's, yes we ate Italian food in Mexico one night.  This appetizer was fish carpaccio, very thin slices of raw tuna with a garlic sauce.  It made my all time top ten foods list for sure.  The rest of the time we ate a lot of fish and vegetarian dishes that were more authentic Mexican cuisine.  Cozumel was very touristy especially with the 8 to 10 cruise ships disembarking daily, so I would not want to go back and besides there are plenty of other places in the world to see.  I feel rested and recharged after getting a good 8 hours of sleep every night, plus a nap here and there.  We love you all!

Sunday Night

Sunday night has taken on a new feel for me. Dad gets home from his meetings, eats dinner, and then goes to sleep where ever he lands and we don't see him until morning. I know that doesn't sound much different than the way dad has always been but he really is much more tired now on Sunday nights. Marc always heads out to spend time with the University Ward group. And so Bear and I are here spending quality time together, except Bear had a bone tonight and he smells bad so I don't like sitting by him. Actually he is on my lap so he is really close.

Last week we had Stake Conference and is was so good. Elder Coleman was here and talked a lot about the family and making it strong. Really good. The week before they divided our former ward, Springdale, and created a new ward, Har-Ber Ward. Today they turned Fayetteville 1 and 2 Wards into three wards, the new ward is the Prarie Grove Ward. It's so exciting to see the Church growing so quickly. Just about a year ago the stake was divided and at Stake Conference the building was packed back to and on the stage. There is a feeling of excitement that I just can't even begin to explain. Rumor has it a new building is in the works for the near future. Our new Stake Center hasn't even been dedicated yet, it's only a couple of weeks old.

After threatening to smash my 35mm camera too many times to count I finally went to my friend Dan at Collier Drug and pleaded for help. He sold me a used 35mm camera - a Canon Rebel - and bought my old piece of junk. The new camera is such a delight to use that I was laughing with glee as I quickly snapped 36 pictures. And the best news is that when I developed the film there were actually 36 pictures on it. Marc and I had wasted 5 rolls of film with the other camera and nary a picture on any of them.

I had the flu last week. Yuck. Don't do it!!

I just found out that Capital One Credit cards are bad news. Don't get one. On your credit report they list the credit limit as $0 and then if you make a charge and don't pay it off in full you have gone over your credit limit and down goes your credit rating. BAD BAD BAD!!!

Spring is in the air here. The weather is slowly warming up and the leaves are popping out. I've even seen daffodils and some of the flowering trees are beginning to bloom. Hooray!! Wish you could all be here with us. It's really beautiful this time of year.

Well, I love you all so much. Have a great week!!

Love To All

It dawns on me that I have not been participative enough in our blog by allowing myself to be distracted with work, "Bishop-ing" and job related activities.

Soooo, I want you to know that I have read through the Glauser Blog and the Clune Blog.

"I muss saaay" . . . I am exuberantly tantalized by the totally stupendous writings of the impressive Clune family members. Further, I am awstruck by the gene pool in which I am swimming with all of you . . . totally!"

Further . . . "I know you think you understand what I just said but I am not sure that what you heard is not what I meant."

Love Abound

YO! Marc Here!
Hello to all that see this blog! I just woke up a bit late due to the fact that we had a snow day, funny enough it only required a mere 1 inch of snow and a minnesotan-ly spring 30 degrees..pfff. I however cannot complain as it makes up for all the days I(any Minnesotan) trudged through 20 inches of snow to get to school, oh yea..uphill and with no shoes on of course! Recently things have been going well, withdrawals from all my medications I believe are over with and I can now eat solid foods, very slowly.. I did gain a whopping 10 lbs. over the course of a week which I will work on removing asap. Other than that I have been spending alot of time shooting photos with our new digital camera which is awesome! These are a few of the wonderous shots of Fayetteville AR. , a place I am really beginning to love! Its a boy scouts paradise out here! Plenty of rocks, trees, moutainous bluffs to climb as well as lakes and trails to explore. I Have also become a usual at the Waffle House, they know I always take a water WITH lemon upon arrival..its kind of like Cheers..Anyhow, besides the Waffle House I am trying to eat healthy and live healthy, I trully am loving it as well! From Spinach smoothies to drinking Apple Cider Vinegar straight(organic of course!). Be cheerful and Remember Marc Loves all of you!

Bon Voyage!

Kelly and I are about to take a cab to O'Hare to head off to Cozumel, Mexico for spring break. I love you all and I will take some pictures so I can show you guys the sights when I get back.  I will be in Minneapolis on Friday night for a lay-over. Unfortunately I don't think we will have time to visit anywhere or anyone. Big bummer! I haven't been back since we moved to Chicago. Oh well.  I just finished a long week of midterms and work which included a marathon of homework, reading, and take home essays where I slept for 9 out of 72 hours. Boy oh boy was I loopy! (and still am!) due to the sleep depravation. I will post when I get home, or if there is a computer handy in Cozumel. The plan is to binge eat tropical fruit and seafood, snorkel a lot, and see the ruins. It is supposed to rain almost the home time, but whatever. It is no Chicago winter.
